Can I freeze refried beans?

Hits 6890 | Created 2009-05-07 | Modified 2009-05-07

Yes. Okay then, how can I defrost and reheat frozen refried beans? Ah, now you're talking. Read on.

(Quick refried beans recipe here)

Once made and cooled, you can pop them in a small tupperware and freeze them for a few months.

To defrost / reheat just put them into a small saucepan with a little water or oil, on a low heat, cover and wait, stirring every couple of minutes to make sure it doesn't stick. Takes about 10 mins to defrost about 8 fl oz.

If too thick, add a little more water or oil (your preference)
