Facebook blank profile page, cookies problems etc

Logged into facebook and your profile (home.php?) page is blank? Is it complaining about enabling cookies? Are you using firefox?

If you've just had the kinds of problems I've had (see Firefox won't open PHP pages suddenly) then you might then try and login to facebook and get a blank page instead of your profile.

I thought perhaps it was a cookie issue (I don't know why) so I went into Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Show Cookies, and removed all the facebook entries.

Go back to facebook and it asks me to log in, only to complain that my cookies are disabled... Removing a cookie site adds it to the exceptions list in firefox, so they can't add more...

Back into Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Exceptions and remove all the facebook entries (don't forget http://facebook and http://www.facebook)

Back to facebook and log in. All looking good, but the profile page is still blank!

Next step - clear the cache: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network Tab -> Cache -> Clear Now

Refresh the page (if it doesn't work, try a forced refresh - hold down SHIFT and click the refresh button)

I hope that works for you!

Thanx, I was just about to reinstall firefox when i came across that post. The strange thing was that when i logged in with the administrator user account in my vista partition, facebook homepage was just fine, but with my usual account it messed up.

Actually I did only the last part of your "walkthrough", that is clearing the cache in the advanced tab of options menu.

Thanx again for saving my time.

I got the same problem. It can't be browser, cookies or OS related since I tried from different ones.

Hey! This actually worked!! I'm so grateful!!
For the recent 2-3days, I've been having this problem, not only with the FB main page, but also with most of the applications not working right... That is, I could get into the application main page, but when I tried to do most of the actions, it just keeps running and nothing happens... Because all the other webpages were working fine and I have not done any update with my computer lately, moreover, my home computer, as old and slow as it is, could still open the pages and play with all the applications without problem!

So me being not good at computers except using them, have not been able to figure out what was happening!! I've tried to uninstalled and re-install newer and older versions of Flash and Javascript, but of course they turned out no use... I did already cleared all my cookies and cache, but I suppose because I did it in the control panel, it only cleared it for IE and not Firefox which I use primarily.

Anyways, thanks again for providing the solution to my problem!! I would still really like to know what happened to have caused this problem in the first place, though... LOL...

I got the same problem. It can't be browser, cookies or OS related since I tried from different browsers: Firefox, and IE8. Interestingly though, it all started at Firefox when the new version had instaled itself, then after, for few tries, the home page would still show off at IE7, then it got also blank there as well, and ever since, I only have a blank home page with the bars to see, can enter my messages but can not reply!!! It is very frustrating!!!
I also tried what was mentioned here, but it didn't work! Please help!!!

none of this work. the http"s" trick didn't work, reinstalling Firefox didn't work, restoring my system didn't work, anti-virus and anti-malware software scans didn't work.

I'm about to take a sledge hammer to my PC!!!
