= Hot, cooler (just), on budget.
C had a better night after taking one of the pills and managed an omelette for breakfast. I managed the same, and 4 chapatis...
Did some washing and hung it outside - my washing was half-hearted, but at least it is half clean now...
At 11am or so we went to visit the stupas up the hill (Rs 250 each!) Quite impressive, very peaceful place. Lots of Buddhist pilgrims there - had a little chat with one red-robed old man:
'Rock carvings.' [him]
'Yes, nice aren't they?' [me]
People of few words, Sri-Lankan Buddhists...
Did the tour and took it easy. Lots of Buddhas with no heads, but found a couple intact. Amazing gates with intricate carvings depicting Guatama Buddha's life(s) (past and even more past!)
Sat at Stupa 2 and made some drawings of some carvings on the outer walls (lotus motif generally) [see sketch book]. Took a lot of pictures of complex designs to examine later.
Came back about 3.30pm and wandered about then chilled in room and on veranda.
Ate the Krackjacks and the pomegranate. It is 7pm now and no sign of our evening meal yet. The chocolate is looking tempting...
Lots of mosquitoes but Skin So Soft appears to be keeping them at bay for the moment.
Plan is to go to Bhopal tomorrow on the train, and to try and book a ticket for same day to Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodpur - anywhere west really!
Possibility of day with packs in Bhopal is unappealing, but, we shall see how it goes.
