Sanchi - Rain, storm, cold. On budget
Black night last night. Storm continues like hell, lightning every second or two, torrential rain. Room began to leak in several places and C became ill - illness number 2 mainly, but not happy. Also power cuts at the time, so run to distant toilet doubly grim...!
Moved beds around to avoid drips. Then dogs began to bark, for the rest of the night... Little sleep.
Left hostel at 8.30am, still in the rain and moved to 'Rest Inn' where we have a large room and 'en suite' toilet facilities...
C still ill, vomited earlier. Hotel owner prepared some kind of ayurvedic medicine of dark sugar and ginger for her. Had breakfast (omelette and 6 chapatis!) and C had boiled eggs.
Room is Rs. 300 including breakfast and supper, so not too bad.
Went to town in the rain to buy some supplies - Crackjack biscuits, oranges, water, chocolate, coconut oil. The Crackjack biscuits are excellent.
C now lying in bed fully dressed, in sleeping bag, watching birds through binoculars. Me? Reading Che still.
C mentioned that she had eggy burps, which is a symptom of Giardia. the chemist agreed and I bought some pills and rehydration powder. The rehydration liquid made her vomit, but the second lot stayed down.
Discovered some enormous bats roosting in a nearby tree - flying during the day a little too. Orange body and large black eyes. Incredible to see them all hanging, the size of small children...
Had supper (kind of thali - good) (C had rice and dal) outside with Japanese neighbour who seems nice. Weather cleared up. Finished Che - he dies in the end don't you know - quite moving and sad actually [note: Bolivian Diaries]
Just had a bucket of hot water for washing - aaahh!
