Basic Curry Problems

Problems with your curry? Some of the most common listed here. Too bland, watery?



1. Not much flavour - bland.

Solution: More curry power required, more stock, or use lentils. Also consider how much salt you have used, if it is very little, add some more and see first.


2. Too watery.

Solution: Cook uncovered to reduce liquid. Or, mix some gram flour (chick pea flour) or cornflour (about two teaspoons) with some cold water (remove lumps), then add whilst stirring well to the mix. This will thicken the sauce.


3. Something is wrong, but I don't know what.

Solution: Perhaps you haven't used enough oil, enough salt or enough curry powder, or cooked it for long enough.

i put too much curry powder in my recipe, how can i reduce the heat?

Add yoghurt, or curd, or coconut milk, it will reduce the heat.

ive put too much yoghurt in and its given it a very yoghurty taste how can i make it taste better

:) Sometimes there's no way back... I'm not sure of a way to reverse too much yoghurt - sorry!
