Everyone loves a good conspiracy. Mine is that Microwave ovens are in fact evil and dangerous, a fact covered up by big business due to the global industry and profits surrounding them. I have absolutely no proof whatsoever of this, but everyone needs at least one wacky theory... Don't they?

It is claimed that microwave cooking causes more loss of nutrients than conventional cooking and that microwave radiation leads to chemical reactions in the food that are different from those occurring during conventional heating.
Dr. Rolf Halden of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health advises:
"In general, whenever you heat something you increase the likelihood of pulling chemicals out. Chemicals can be released from plastic packaging materials like the kinds used in some microwave meals. If you are cooking with plastics or using plastic utensils, the best thing to do is to follow the directions and only use plastics that are specifically meant for cooking. Inert containers are best, for example heat-resistant glass, ceramics and good old stainless steel."
I would avoid it.. Im sure it is harmful for you. Ive seen pictures of plants watered with microwaved water and they simply wither and die whereas the unmicrowaved watered plants stay healthy. Thats enough for me.

Some of the earliest research into the effects of microwaved food was conducted in the 1950s in Russia. That research indicated bigger dangers than destruction of nutrients. Russian researchers found that people who ate microwaved foods had a statistically higher incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers, a general degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues, and a gradual breakdown of the digestive and excretory systems. Due to chemical alterations within the food, they had lymphatic malfunctions, causing a degeneration of the body’s immune system. For instance, microwaving milk and cereal grains converted some of their amino acids into carcinogens, thawing frozen fruits converted their glucoside and galactoside containing fractions into carcinogenic substances, and carcinogenic free radicals were formed in microwaved plants, especially root vegetables.
Increased incidence of stomach and intestinal cancers: A statistically higher percentage of cancerous growths result in these organs, plus a generalised breakdown of the peripheral cellular tissues and a gradual degeneration of digestive and excretory functions.
The Soviet Union conducted extensive microwave reserarch after finding German microwave ovens and research data at the end of WWII.
